Plenty of Potatoes is a children’s book that accurately depicts potato farming. The pages go from month to month and describe how farmers plant, grow and harvest potatoes throughout the year. Rhyming words paired with bright illustrations capture the vibrancy of agriculture in Colorado.

This book was selected at the 2026 the Literacy Project, a program of Colorado Agriculture in the Classroom. This is a FREE program for preK-12th grade classes featuring Colorado food, fiber, or fuel.

All participating classes received a classroom kit. The kit included; Plenty of Potatoes, fresh and dehydrated potatoes, a History Colorado virtual field trip and corresponding educational and ag career resources. The project activities meet academic standards for reading, writing, science, art, social studies, comprehensive health, and math. Kids and teachers learned about Colorado potato farming in an engaging, positive, and memorable way!
